Hügel App: Explore the History of Villa Hügel with Augmented Reality
The Hügel app offers users unprecedented insights into the economic and historical backgrounds of Villa Hügel and its 28-hectare park. For 72 years, Villa Hügel served as the residence of the Krupp family dynasty and was a place of representation for kings, emperors, and heads of state. This app traces the history of the family and the company, highlighting key aspects such as the company's rise, connections to the state power, world wars, National Socialism, and arms production. With augmented reality, 3D elements, and 360-degree panoramas, the app brings the past to life, allowing users to virtually explore hidden areas, such as the bathroom where Kaiser Wilhelm II used to bathe, or the Krupp family swimming pool. Augmented reality also enhances the existing environment by adding virtual furnishings or former outbuildings like greenhouses or stables. The app offers a free tour, a highlight tour, a children's tour, and a couch tour, allowing users to experience Villa Hügel from the comfort of their own homes.
The latest update expands the app to include an artist tour featuring former fellow Samson Young.
